What is Healing?
Healing can be as simple as holding the hand of a loved one, wishing for them to get better or sending a text to let them know that you are thinking of them. Let's face it a 'get well soon' card is only a piece of paper until you take the time to write a message and send it to a loved one. Then it has an energy, it brings a smile, cheers them up, brightens their day, that is very powerful. Healing in a more defined way is about sending universal energy (love) to another with the intention that they get well or feel better. This could be in the form of a prayer, spiritual healing, Reiki. or any one of hundreds of healing methods from around the world. Healing can be sent out for a physical condtion, state of mind or simply to help get someone through a difficult patch.
Does it work?
It is very important to make the distinction between healing and curing. We can not make any claim for the effects of Healing. We simply hope that our positive energy and thoughts will help you feel positive, knowing that you have your very own team of 'Angels' sending you that energetic 'get well soon' card.
Many people do report that they feel better, or get better more quickly after they have received either 'Hands-On' or 'Distance Healing'. Below is an excerpt from 'The Field' by Lynne McTaggart which details of the result of a study in to the effects of healing.
"Perhaps the most impressive human study had been carried out by physician Randolph Byrd in 1988. It had attempted in a randomized, double-blind trial whether remote prayer would have any effect on patients in a coronary care unit. Over ten months, nearly 400 patients were divided in to two groups, and only half (unbeknownst to them) were prayed for by Christians outside the hospital. All patients had been evaluated, and there was no statistical difference in their condition before treatment. However, after treatment, those who'd been prayed for had significantly less severe symptoms, and required less assistance on a ventilator, and fewer antibiotics and diuretics than patients who hadn't been prayed for." (R. C. Byrd, 'Positive Therapeutic effects of intercessory prayer in a coronary care unit population', Southern Medical Journal, 1988; 81(7): 826-9.)
In the same book, Lynne McTaggart writes the following about a lengthy and detailed research project undertaken by F.Sicher and E. Targ,
"The results were inescapable. No matter which type of healing they used, no matter what their view of a higher being, the healers were dramatically contributing to the physical and psychological well-being of their patients." (F. Sicher and E. Targ et al., 'A randomized double-blind study of the effect of distant healing in a population with advanced AIDS: report of a small scale study', Western Journal of Medicine, 1998; 168(6) 356-63)
Can anyone do it?
YES! All you need is the intention for another to feel better. You will find all sorts of courses and workshops around the country to help you develop your skills and knowledge.
How do I find out more?
Details of 'Healing Evenings' and Reiki courses are available here: courses & healing evenings. Any courses, workshops or Healing Evenings listed are run or facilitated by highly recommended practitioners. They have all been through the 'Spreading The Magic' Reiki training as well as having experience & training in many other disciplines. Try to find a course or workshop that is recommended by someone else and try to meet or speak to the tutor or facilitator before the event to ensure that you 'click' with them. Your local Spiritualist Church will also run healing groups and courses.
